What Time Will Yoshihito Nishioka Play Against Jiri Lehecka?
Nishioka and Lehecka are on the Day 4 Schedule at Brisbane International Presented By Evie 2025 on Wednesday 1 January 2025. Lets breakdown the career, past stats and recent form of these players and predict who will get the victory.
Who Will Win In This Head-To-Head?
Yoshihito Nishioka, a 29-year-old left-handed Japanese tennis player, is currently ranked world No. 69. He achieved his career-high ranking of No. 24 in June 2023 after making it to the fourth round of the Australian Open and Roland Garros for the first time in his career. In 2022, Nishioka secured the biggest win of his career by defeating No. 2 Ruud on his way to winning his second ATP Tour title at the Seoul tournament. He also earned his first title at the 2018 Shenzhen tournament as a 171st-ranked qualifier, where he saved two match points against Shapovalov. Nishioka has shown great resilience, rallying from a set down three times to reach the 2020 Delray Beach final and saving a match point against de Minaur to reach the 2022 Washington final, which he eventually won. His third title came in 2024 at the Atlanta tournament.
However, Nishioka has struggled to reach the quarterfinals since his victory in Atlanta in July. In 2024, he had a 2-6 record against top 30 opponents, but managed to defeat No. 29 Tiafoe in Atlanta and No. 21 Auger-Aliassime in Tokyo.
On the other hand, Jiri Lehecka, a 23-year-old Czech player, is currently ranked world No. 28. He achieved his career-high ranking of No. 23 in January 2024 after winning his first ATP Tour title in Adelaide. Lehecka has had some notable victories in his career, including defeating No. 5 Rublev to reach the semifinals of the 2023 Doha tournament and reaching the quarterfinals of the ATP Masters 1000 event in Indian Wells in 2024. He also reached his first ATP Masters 1000 semifinal in Madrid that same year after No. 4 Medvedev retired during their match. Lehecka had a strong run at the 2023 Australian Open, defeating No. 12 Norrie in the third round and No. 7 Auger-Aliassime in the fourth round to reach the quarterfinals.

Lehecka’s breakthrough came in 2022 when he reached his first ATP Tour semifinal in Rotterdam as a qualifier, defeating No. 12 Shapovalov in the first round for his first ATP Tour win. He also performed well at the 2022 Next Gen ATP Finals, finishing as the runner-up and celebrating his 21st birthday during the tournament. As a former World No. 10 junior, Lehecka won the 2019 Wimbledon boys’ doubles title with his Czech compatriot Forejtek.
In terms of Lehecka’s performance in Brisbane, he is aiming to reach his 16th tour-level quarterfinal, his 12th on hard courts, and his third in Australia. He previously reached the quarterfinals at the 2023 Australian Open (lost to Tsitsipas) and won the 2024 Adelaide tournament by defeating Draper in the final. If Lehecka reaches the quarterfinals in Brisbane, he will be the first Czech man to do so since Stepanek in 2012.
The match between Yoshihito Nishioka and Jiri Lehecka will take place on Court 10.
