The Tennessee Titans are on the hunt for a new general manager, as they kicked off their search by interviewing three candidates. The interviews began with Reggie McKenzie and Thomas Dimitroff, both former GMs, before moving on to Tampa Bay assistant general manager John Spytek.
Chad Brinker, the president of football operations for the Titans, is leading the search to replace the recently fired Ran Carthon, who had a disappointing 9-25 record over his two seasons with the team.
Reggie McKenzie has a long history in the NFL, starting with the Green Bay Packers in 1994 and working his way up to director of football operations. Brinker also has ties to the Packers organization, having served as a scouting assistant and pro scout from 2009 to 2012.
On the other hand, Thomas Dimitroff brings his experience as the former general manager of the Atlanta Falcons, where he managed a record of 109-88, including six playoff berths and a Super Bowl appearance. Dimitroff has a diverse background in scouting, having worked for multiple teams before his tenure with the Falcons.
Dimitroff also recently co-founded a football analytics company called SumerSports in January 2022, showcasing his dedication to using data in player acquisition and roster management.
In addition to McKenzie, Dimitroff, and Spytek, the Titans will also be interviewing Catherine Hickman, Cleveland’s assistant general manager and vice president of football operations, showing a diverse pool of candidates for the position.
Spytek, who has been overseeing Tampa Bay’s college and pro scouting departments since 2023, has a strong scouting background, starting as an intern in Philadelphia in 2005 before working his way up to director of player personnel with the Buccaneers in 2016.
Overall, the Titans are leaving no stone unturned in their search for a new general manager, with a mix of experienced candidates and up-and-coming talent being considered for the crucial role. The interview process is well underway, and a decision is expected in the near future. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
